"Natural" Two Film Color Stereo

     Stereographers can do their own experiments with two color separations,
right now!

     In "82, I did some experiments with Polaroid B&W 35mm instant film(the
fastest, easiest way for me to get b/w transparencies, then).
     I shot a roll with red and green filters over the lenses of my
realist... I made the filters by shooting white card on Kodachrome 25 through
anaglyph glasses filters at varying exposures. Subsequently, I selected film
chips from the "test" roll that reduced white light by the same amount so as
to have equal exposure for each lens in the field.
     After processing the roll, I mounted the images normally, which gave me
a stereo slide with the left and right images being red and green color
separations. Rather than wearing anaglyph glasses when viewing, I cut down a
pair and "sandwiched" it with each slide as I viewed.

     I liked the results, though there was a lot of retinal rivalry on some,
not all slides... a problem resulting from using two eyes....:=)

     My next project is to do this experiment with weaker filters on the
camera, process to prints and mount as viewcards. I'd then put a light wash
of the appropriate colors on each image on the card.
     The object would be a sense of the hand tinted view but with more
accurate color and color positioning.
