New Stereo Viewfinder Camera

The UK BBC design awards programme last night (5/6/96) featured a new
camera by the Fisher Price company intended for children ,called the
creative FX camera.
Instead of film it uses a chip and cheap printer to print a black and white
image on paper. This is turned into a feature "The kids can colour it in
for thamselves" . Five creative FX are possible such as enclosing the
picture in a dollar bill ,a TV or adding a speach bubble. The image quality
looks pretty poor and it resembles a polaroid camera in apearance which I
think it intends to rival for children. Because they like instant pictures
but polaroid costs a pound sterling a print. Its supposed to be available
in the UK next year at 30 pounds sterling.
So what does it have to do with stereo ? not a lot except like their
earlier version intended for conventional 110 film it has two viewfinders
. It seems chidren have problems shutting one eye for a conventional
viewfinder it is also supposed to help them keep the camera level. Such a
viewfinders seems more appropriate for stereo cameras but I only know of
the Coronet which had them.
