What with all this talk about proper exposure, I thought
I'd pass along the following regarding the Realist.

My 2.8 has the original lens cap, and inside is the
following table:

Light Conditions Shutter Speeds Lens Opening
Bright & Clear 1/100 f4.5*
Sun Behind Camera 1/50 f6.3*
                          1/25 f9*

Bright & Clear 1/100 f4
Sun to either side 1/50 f5.6
of camera 1/25 f8

Bright & Clear 1/100 f2.8
Sun in front of 1/50 f4.5*
camera 1/25 f6.3*

Hazy Sun 1/50 f4.5*

Cloudy Bright 1/50 f3.5

Dark Overcast 1/50 f2.8

*these are not marked on the lens opening ring - presumably
you interpolated between marked values to get them.

As a point of comparison, the film packet on a package of
Royal Gold 25 speed print film for Heavy Overcast is 1/60 at f2.8.
