Hi All,
Quoted from recent digests:

There
>are so many problems that can arise, a lot of the more conservative mounters
>advise not to break the window, but as my old cinematography teacher at USC
>always said, the rules are made to be broken--just be damned sure you KNOW
the rule and WHY you're breaking it!
>>>>>>>>>> I would venture to say that in 3D images the defined "rule"
would include portions of an image that extend in front of the stereo
window. Any contest where such is specifically not allowed is being promoted
and run by those who have no clue. They are breaking the "rule". It is
unfortunate that not all competitions are judged by those knowledgable in a
field, even more so when they won't allow themselves to be educated to the
realities. I recently watched a stunning ice skating competition where the
judges were so far out of line, the announcers, audience and competitors all
basically dismissed the judging openly. Maybe they were the same ones who
had the 3D slide comptetition prohibiting full use of the medium!
