SL3D filters

Unfortunately, i was sufficiently..ahem...'disappointed' at the 100%
price increase from the time i ordered to the time the filter arrived,
that i neglected to ask for a swatch book. The folks at the store did
not, i think, have one. Anyhow, i have since ordered the 'lifetime
supply' of #27 and #95 roscolux gels, so i should be able to experiment
ad lib...

My filter did not come with any warning other than "keep in a cool dry
place" and "handle these filters by the edges, once marked or soiled they
are difficult [!] to clean".
My new 44A came inside a molded clear plastic hinged folder, which is
probably more robust than the previous packing material, but probably
harder to keep clean and safe when opened.
The last Wrattens i bought came packed in a light cardboard envelope, with
the filters inside a foil wrapper, protected by a tissue sheet which
covered each side. I have had these filters for over ten years, and have
used them in the Sierras, the Olympic Penninsula, Yellowstone Park, and
other reasonably rigorous enviornments. i am careful of them, they are in
cardboard holders, i use them behind my viewcamera lenses, and i unwrap
them only to put them inside the camera. i have not had any problems from
environmental conditions yet, and only acquired a few light scratches on
them, which i do not believe hurt image quality.
They have certainly been in conditions that were not 'cool and dry', but
not for extended (days to weeks) periods. I don't think they will melt or
decompose at over 73 degrees, but i expect that heat and high humidity
will mess up their optical qualities--i imagine they are rather
hygroscopic.
It will be a bit of a wrench to take a scissors to my $30 Wratten filters,
but a 3dman's gotta do what a 3dman's gotta do.
How much worse are the results using the roscolux gels compared to the
Wrattens, if i am making direct in-camera Polaroid 4x5 color prints?
