Beam Splitter Stereo Processing

In reference to the recent letter stating the IMAX theaters probably used
polorized glasses:
They use LCD (liquid crystal) type shutters in a headset with a radio
receiver built in. This completly blanks one eye at a time. There is not
of the ghosting you get the polorazied glasses. The sync signal comes in
over the radio receiver. I saw a movie in the NYC theater a year ago on a
field trip with the NE Photo Historical Society.
I just took my first roll of Franca beamsplitter photos using a Nikormat FT
with 50mm f2.0 lens. I took them to Konica for a set of 3x5 prints, a proof
sheet, and a floppy with the scans on it. The normal 2 days service took 7
days in this case. I found out why -they carefully printed just the right
half-frame image. I saw that but took the package home with the hope that
the scans would be of the full frame. No luck, they were also of the right
image. I guess it is my fault in not writing special instructions to
process as full frame.
I am going to take the roll over again because there was flare from the
flash getting into one of the mirrors. The outside photos were fine. This
beam splitter needs a large lens hood to block out the flash. I am taking
photos of some of our cats using a shoot-through umbrella which was quite
close to the cat on one side.
I didn't see any double image due to the Franca not using front surface mirrors.

There will be a photo-3d page as soon as I get these cat photos scanned. I
hope to have both b&w anaglyph and color wall-eyed pair type in the page.
