I dunno, Larry, I think they've got it right this time--stereo
ain't the only 3D.  The main problem with a regular picture is
that under normal viewing conditions there's all kinds of
information (e.g. stereo) that conflicts with the 3D information
contained within the picture.  If you were to close one eye (or
better yet, use a device that optically placed both eyes at the
same position; back around the turn of the century, I think,
Zeiss advertised a device for just this purpose to make regular
pictures look more depthy), view the picture from the proper
vantage point, & hide the edges of the picture frame (e.g. by
viewing it through a nearer aperture), it'd probably look pretty
3D--especially if it was animated.

On the other hand, as we all know, stereo is the _best_ 3D (my
3D's better than yours is, nyah, nyah!)     :-)
