Actually, 3D-TV has what they claim is the "last" Toshiba camcorder (the last
one except for all the others, I guess) for which they are asking "only"
$12,000! Public prices over the years have ranged from a low of around $1,000 to
an average of around $5,000 or $6,000, and have gotten more silly lately. A
couple of months ago a fellow advertised one in Stereo World for $800 or so; it
was snatched up immediately. We may never know whether the buyer was the same
guy who was advertising one in the following issue for $5,000! David Starkman
says that there may have been as few as 500 cameras produced altogether, and
certainly no more than about 1000. They were apparently all NTSC units, which is
the native format of both the US and Japan.
