Patrick..the flash contact on the VIVID is an insulated peg just over 
the left front edge of the camera as you view it from the back or 
holding position. Its normal flash was a battery holder with a tripod 
thead fitting to lock it down over this contact. A tripod 1/4-inch 
thread is in the top of the camera just back from the contact.
I found a pc adapter designed to split two pc cords and mounted it on a 
little plate with a thumb screw to fit the tripod socket on top. I made 
the bottom center hot pc connector connect to the VIVID contact with a 
small solder bridge. It then took a normal pc cord. BobH
(I long ago lost the setup, except for the camera) I despise flash and 
use any available light whenever possible. BobH
