Realist - counterclockwise ?

Ok, in the realist manual it tells how to put a mark on the film sprocket
so you can always load the film right without wasteing the first shot.
However, it says turn the sprocket counterclockwise for 3 teeth. What does
this mean when your looking at the sprocket from the side? The term
counterclockwise means nothing unless you are oriented in a flat
plane. Edge-on is not a flat plane! Do they mean CCW as viewed from
above or below (which would result in it being turned one way or the
other). IN OTHER WORDS: Do I turn the sprocket right-to-left or
left-to-right as viewed from the rear of the camera (with the cover off and
looking edge-on the sprocket)?
