I opened the camera to repair the broken plastic take-up spool (very common
problem with the COLORIST) about a year ago. I remember the alluminum top
comming off very easily and no springs jump out.
I also had to re-calibrate the rangefinder. It has a little screw to do
this. However I think things might not be that simple. Just taking the top
off may not necessarily give you acces to the mirrors. If I remember well
the rangefinder system is located inside a black painted "unit". For the
repair I had to perform I did't have to go any further. There may be some
crews which allowe you further acces.
Anyway for as far as your question is concerned with respect to the
alluminum cover : no problem.
