Unsubscribing vs sabotage

Okay, same photo-3D, Greg writes
>>Many mailing list administrators have adopted an email confirmation
scheme, whereby when you subscribe you are sent a confirmatory message
before the subscription actually begins, giving one a chance to evade
subscription spam. It's been a while since I subscribed, but I don't
believe this list uses such a procedure, making it vulnerable to such
tactics.
Greg, when I first subscribed a few years ago, no one asked
anything...they just started sending me Photo-3D. But, I just swiched from
Delphi to the wonderful world of WORLDNET.ATT, and I had to unsubscribe (no
problem) and re-subscribe...what a procedure!!! I was bounced out the first
try or two, and lots of return mailings from the listserv about my
correct/incorrect format, and then they said they'd check on me (maybe not
those EXACT) words, and m-a-y-b-e allow me to subscibe.
Finally, Bob jumped in and graciously allowed my new address...I would be
mildly offended if: 1) I didn't know that a whole bunch of dumb computers
were actually handling this, and 2)lots of hackers do lots of stuff! But, it
really is hard to subscribe!
On the other hand, I was getting junk e-mail on the Delphi address,
selling me riches and more. I got so P'ed off after unsuccessfully trying to
cancel it, that I would just "reply" with "NO THANKS" as the final line. I
really hoped the mailer would get the message, or get PO'ed at me and pull
my address...what I suspect these unwanted subscribers to photo-3D are
doing. There's no simple solution....I suspect!
