Yup - I tried the "looking thru the lens without film" trick while
using my "universal" flash attachment (same one I use with my Pentax
ME Super - another dinosaur). Things look bright (to coin a phrase)
at all speeds up to 1/150. 

On strobe/"speedlights" the manual is suprisingly negative, pointing
out a number of problems. Interesting from a historical point of view.
If I get a chance, I'll post that out also. I note that circa 1953, 
they are quoting Kodachrome I at EI of 10 for daylight with no
filters.
