Just read the article mentioned. Wow! That article has an
awfully misleading title even for Pop Photo. As you say, the
article is really a comparison of two different Fuji films: A
new one, which is first appearing in APS format, and an older,
similar, Fuji film. The test shouldn't be construed as a
comparison of formats as Pop's title tries to imply.

But there's certainly good news in there someplace. Since all
3D photography makes such severe strains on system resolution,
and since the resolution limiter in small-format systems such
as APS and 35 mm is the film (not the lenses), remarkable
improvements in film such as this one will make life easier for
3Ders. In this case, it's a print film improvement, so print
pair 3Ders will benefit. Now can they do the same thing for
slide film? Would Pop Photo care to compare the resolution of
this new Fuji print film to that of existing standard
transparency films?

Speaking of films, I talked to a Kodak rep at a recent trade
show and medium format Kodachrome is indeed gone. I guess I'm
the last to know. This makes me a whole lot less interested
in medium format stereo since the archival properties of E-6
do not appear to be anywhere near as good. It's a real shame
since medium format 3D is where the resolution is at. Besides,
it's an easy format to work in; mounting is easy when you have
images you can see even without a magnifier. It's also an
easier format to design a wide angle viewer for.
