Well, that's the thing.  Since we humans have our eyes so close 
together, we need all the resolution we can get to have good depth 
perception.  Camera systems of reasonably wide angle don't deliver 
it, let alone digital or video.  The nominal eye will deliver one 
minute of arc even in the usual (non-vernier) mode.  That's one 
part in 3440.  A 35 mm camera delivers .03 mm over the depth of field.
If it has a lens of 35 mm, that's one part in 1170.  So the size of
the fuzz is about three times what's easily perceived.  We really
should have been born with our eyes several feet apart.  That would
dramatically reduce the resolution requirements.  8-)
