Folding stereoscope

Neal asks...
>>The 1993 Edmund Scientific catalog (p. 110) shows a PEAK brand stereo
viewer for print pairs. It is very similar to the old Army viewer with
folding wire legs. Prices were $45 for 2X (4.25" working distance) and
$50 for the 4X magnification (3" working distance). Have any of you
had experience with these? Are they worth the money?

WE don't have that exact viewer, but I came across a couple dozen, new old
stock (1968) Hubbard maps with folding scopes (similar to the Army style but
plastic with wire legs). We'll be getting about $10 each for the viewer plus
the Stereo Atlas, if you can wait 'til Rochester--and there's no
postage+handling neccessary! The distance they work at is 4-1/4" (2X), and
they actually show the map quite well!

                        Harry
