Re: New 3D Movies
On the subject of new 3-D movies, I finally got to go to a 3-D
IMAX theater (the one in Irvine, CA; I'm moving down to Pasadena
in a month & my wife & I went down on a business/house-hunting
trip).
We saw "Into the Deep". All the great things everyone says
about it are true (though there were a few abrupt far-to-near
transitions that I found distracting). Crabs, octopi, sharks,
and large schools of little fish are very cool in stereo.
The ergonomics of the system need a little work, however. Those
headsets are _heavy_, & with most of the weight resting on my
forehead I had a splitting headache after the first 15 or 20
minutes. Also, after many years of free-viewing I've become
pretty familiar with the the muscular sensations associated with
various convergence angles, and I got the impression that I was
having to diverge my eyes a fair amount in order to view the
film (which also contributed to the headache). Does anyone know
how the projector alignment is achieved? Are they rigidly
attached to one another?
