Report from Bruce Rosenberger

Met some friends from PA, Bruce Rosenberger and gang. We had a nice chat
today and later they dropped off a diskette with the following report:

Update from the NSA convention in Rochester NY. August 3, 1996 5:00 PM.

This is my first NSA convention so I'm finding the whole thing very
exciting! We arrived Friday (my wife and good friend Tom are along) just
before noon and checked in at the convention registration before even
registering for the room. Unfortunately, the slide shows had been adjouned
until lunch. We wandered around until 1:30 and returned to the theatre to
see a slide presentation by a couple who take slides with anamorphic lenses
so that the images filled 3/4 of the 7' by 21' screen.

As I was sitting I noticed the name of the gentleman next to me was Paul
Wing. Paul is well known around the NSA and as he told me, has been taking
stereo pictures since the 30's. We talked quite a bit between shows and he
explained in great detail (among other things) the correct way to set the
window. He would nudge me during projection to indicate shots that he felt
were badly "windowed". I learned a lot from Paul.
The slide shows continued this morning at 11:00 featuring some incredible
presentations by a gentleman who filled the whole screen with alternating
images in fade/dissolve carefully choreographed to what was probably an
original soundtrack. Incredible!

Meeting all of our fellow Photo 3-D members has been the other exciting
event. No one looks like you'd expect! The most depressing thing for me was
to find out that I was one of the oldest (at a mere 40!) Lincoln Kamm, Jamie
Drouin, Dr T., Alex Klein, are all "young guys" clocking in around mid 20's.
Tim Smith, Morris Keesan, George P., Jon Golden are all, I'm guessing, in
their 30's. Joel Alpers appears (and I may be fooled by the grey hair),
along with the Sells, the Millers, all appear to be "old folks" like me.
(Sorry guys, I'm only guessing!) Sorry to anyone I forgot...

Gotta go My laptop is going dead!

Ok, plugged it in... anyway, we didn't get to do much room hopping, most of
the dealers has already setup for this mornings trade show. One room that
was open was DDDalia's.WOW, I've never seen so much stuff I want, in one
room!

The trade fair started this morning, we didn't get the early bird pass so we
slept in a bit. I'd say that roughly half the talbles were selling view
cards and old 2D photos. But many of the others had cameras and books,
viewers and all kinds of good stuff. I purchased a view magic, and stand.I
also bought mounts and a 3D Magic camera from Joel, and a Red button from
someone and then ran it over to Dr. T to be "Themelized". Well, we're off to
find someplace to eat (everything closes at 6:00 here in downtown, fast food
joints included!)
