Sure, it depends on whom you're building the viewer
for--yourself, or everyone else.  :-)
A mild correction for farsightedness might not be too bad; other
people could just slide the stage in closer & get a bigger field
of view.  Anything else would probably be a no-no.

I've been kicking myself ever since I bought my last pair of
glasses;  I forgot to check the single, most important criterion
for the frames--namely, that they fit under the hood of my
stereoscope  (DOH!).

What he said.  The price is right, but the loss of sharpness is
noticeable, particularly if (as I now have to do, see above) you
take off your glasses & slide the stage in to about an inch from
your face.  Noticeable chromatic abberation, too.  So glass
lenses are yet another item on that wish list of mine (as my
grandmother used to say, "Want in one hand & spit in the other &
see which one gets full first.").
