Another convention view

Hi, all! Here's another view of the Rochester convention.

We (my husband, Lee, and I) had a blast making new friends (including some of
you in Alexander Kline's "@" room) and revisiting old friends. As others have
reported, we had mixed feelings about the slide shows, but took the opportunity
to learn from all of them--the good, the bad, the creative. Perhaps next year
those of you in WA will see _my_ first attempt at projecting slides... Be
gentle with me!

I wish more people would take the time to look over the print displays--to
enjoy/learn. Remember, not all of us prefer slides, some of us prefer to work
on paper. I laughed hysterically at the "Bad Stereo" display courtesy of Brandt
Rowles. I hope you took the time to laugh at them too.

This was the first year, after about 8 conventions, that we tried room hopping.
It was fun. A sort of macro-view of the trade show. The trade show had so many
old view cards--like wire hangers in the closet, they seem to multiply each
year. Where do they all come from? I fell in love with some oversized stereo
prints, and bought some fun little stereo gadgets. Not near the collector that
so many of you guys are.

We did the whole convetion--auction (yes, we bought something!), banquet,
breakfast, etc. We also stayed through to Monday and truly enjoyed the Eastman
House collection in the morning--though 2 hours was far from enough time. The
box lunch at the Strong Museum was a terrific meal, and the Museum a rather
curious place.

All in all, we had a delightful time, and in spite of a "hiccup" or two, plan to
return to Rochester and spend more time (a full day or two, thank you) at the
Eastman House, and other fun places in town. Thanks to all of you who attended,
projected shows, sold things, displayed things, or just simply gave us a good
laugh or two. Oh, and major kudos to those who coordinated the convention and
its details--mighty find job. Many many thanks.

PS: I cannot be held responsible for the comments Lee made during the
incredible slide show about Lucky, The Cat, who was not quite so lucky--and the
confusion with the bees and the Queen... :) If you missed those, you really
missed a laugh-fest! :)
