Haven't had a chance to comment on some things in the forum recently, so this
is me catching up.

X-Comment: The Stereoscopic Image (Photo-3D) Mailing List
Congrats to Ray Hannisian on the new job. Always good to have a 3D fan
working for a 3D company. And incidentally, Ray, if you have the urge to have
those VRex glasses reviewed in THE trade magazine of the adult video industry
(the only industry, by the way, that's currently mass-marketing 3D
shutter-glasses videotapes), why not send along a pair? If interested,
contact me by e-mail.
Re the discussion of Mr. Lo: Is it possible for someone with normal darkroom
equipment to print lenticular prints? Not that I have such equipment, you
understand, but when I took a tour of American 3D these many years ago, the
printing process was described as some deep, dark secret, not vouched-safe
for lesser mortals. I have since figured out that one needs to "cut" the 4
photos into very, very tiny strips and "paste" them side by side in a special
manner against the lenticular material - or perhaps this is all done
electronically - but is it something an amateur could do?
Peter Davis: I thoroughly sympathize with your frustration and those of other
doomsayers in the list, that think 3D films have no future. Here at Adult
Video News, I've tried to convince my immediate boss that printing stereo
pairs of nude ladies (porn stars) in the magazine, and offering a free pair
of cheap glasses (probably Reel 3D #2018) with each subscription, would be a
blockbuster, sales-wise, but some people (the boss) have no vision. Now I
have to take the idea to the publisher and really sell it to him, but failing
that, I certainly intend to find someone who is interested in doing this
project, possibly as a one-shot issue. But hey, I've fought uphill battles
before...
Dr. T: Thanks to you and several others for highly "illuminating" views of
the NSA convention, and I look forward to seeing still more reports,
especially if people have something new to say. I am SO jealous... but I
intend to make a real vacation out of next year's show - driving up the coast
from LA to Bellevue, and stopping for some shots of giant redwoods along the
way, as well as other stereographical sights. Might even drop in on
Westercon, if I have the time.
Dang, I love stereo! In fact, most of the photography I do for the magazine
now, I do with my Realist, and if they like the stereo pair, they print a
frame or two to accompany the article I write. Plus, I've given 3D viewers
and pairs to some of the stars, and they love the medium. (Just doin' my best
to make 3D a happenin' phenom again...)
