You're absolutely right. I've been to La$ Vega$ four times now (not bad
for an European eh?), and one should definitively avoid the weekends when
hotel prices skyrocket. Have a look at your AAA Handbook to find out
more ...

The main question is not "what percentage of the NSA membership is inter-
national", but how many percent of the international members are likely
to attend. In this case, I'm considering "international" to be not
North-American, since many people in Western Canada are closer to La$
Vega$ than our friends in FL, LA, GA etc.

Based on the 1991 NSA Membership directory, there were 2,807 US members,
and 252 foreign members, including 82 in Canada. This yields to the
following conclusion:

	North America 2,889
	Rest of World 170

There have been approx. 800 North American members at the Rochester
convention, which is 27.69% of the North American Membership, and
4 members from overseas (if I got this right: Rob Oechsle from Japan,
David Burder from England, and Dr. Dieter Lorenz and myself from
Germany), which is 2.35% -- or roughly one overseas attendee per
200 North American fella's!

For foreign members, the flight is one of the biggest cost factors.
Especially in summer (= travel) time. The better deals are available
after the second week in September.

Enough said - don't calculate too much with the foreign members. The
price-difference for a flight to the east coast or the west coast is
only approx. $200 - which is partly compensated by the larger amount of
frequent traveller miles you earn ...
