Yes, I think the f/3.5 Realist was $159. I believe the f/2.8 Ektar (sold
only under the table as it was discontinued on entry) cost me $222. It
was replaced by the David White f/2.8 Anastigmat (made in Germany).
Kodak charged $60 a pair to David White for the lenses and that got to
be too rich for a $200 camera, so they went overseas.)
A Leica IIIc with f/2 Summitar cost $448 in 1950 (which included 15%
excise tax). The M3 introduced in 1954 with Summicron f/2 was also $448,
the IIIc (now IIIf) having dropped in price to make room.
This was when money was worth something too! You cna consider a current
$ worth 10 cents. I just divide by 10 to see if modern prices are
reaonable. Modern cameras and elcctronics great bargains, automobiles
