Re focusing slides.  I use a duped mono focusing slide that someone was
selling from shutterbug news some years back.  Just get two and mount 
them together in a stereo mask. You can probably get some interesting
opinions as to the best way to mount them, but I don't think that
it's an important issue personally, since you'll be focusing
the two sides separately.  Now as to where you can pick up a mono
focusing slide---?  Mine is one of those TV test pattern-like drawings
that is quite useful since it shows resolution out to the corners, which
among other things lets you know if your lenses are not parallel.
