I was shooting stereos one Sunday morning at the old abandoned Hudson
River Ferry tubes here in NYC, when another panicy photographer ran up and
asked if I had a spare battery. Seems his "technologically advanced" camera
had exhausted its power supply. I said, Sorry mine doesn't use batteries. He
seemed surprised and asked, Well, what kind of camera are you using? I held
up my circa 1950s Realist.
Of course, I was able to spend the rest of the morning shooting, while
the other photographer went in search of a photo shop open on Sunday.
