I now understand the confusion (I'll explain in a second). If you recall the rest of
my post, I bet you may be confused over it as well:

I suspect Norm's carrier doesn't have two slots.
I have only ever seen 2 TDC 116 projectors up close, Bill Davis' and mine, and
they both have dual channel slide carriers. The 3D projection book I
mentioned above by Earl Krause also shows this carrier and its operation.
Since my post, I have received a photocopy of the TDC 116's original instructions
(thanks, Harry!), and lo and behold, the dual channel carrier which we have is NOT
mentioned- instead the carrier pictured has the flip over pusher like Norm mentions!

Perhaps this flip over pusher carrier was an early or late model variant
(kind of like the double exposure prevention button on some Realists)?
I'm still wondering what the heck the back slot is for. Were there slides
*slightly* bigger (taller?) than Realist?
