Well 800 gives you more flash range (40%) than 400, or they
could use a smaller (=cheaper) flash. Also for the same
shutter speed they can use a smaller aperture which gives a larger
near/far focus range and reduces some of the lens aberations.
So aside from film grain issues, a faster film is a win/win
situation.
