   Aha! Good point!

|  Well 800 gives you more flash range (40%) than 400, or they
|could use a smaller (=cheaper) flash.  Also for the same
|shutter speed they can use a smaller aperture which gives a larger
|near/far focus range and reduces some of the lens aberations.
|So aside from film grain issues, a faster film is a win/win

Yeah - I hadn't considered the fact that you could use a smaller
apature setting, having the benefits you mention. 

These units were the flash*less* ones, specified generally for
outdoor daytime use. I didn't check the film speed on the ones with
the flash (which DOUBLES the price of the camera :-)
