If this is referring to the Pulfrich effect then they haven't really
experienced the Pulfrich effect. With all the recent posts about the effect
I finally experienced it for myself yesterday.
It's quite an interesting and strong depth effect but it is extremely motion
dependent. The only effective eyewear for viewing the pulfrich effect must
be able to control relative dimness in either eye depending on relative
motion in the viewed scene. When the motion changes direction the opposite
eye needs to be dimmed.
It wouldn't be as active as field-sequential systems but it would still be
more active than "passive" eyewear. It would need to be coordinated with
relative motion either by sensing motion from the image itself or a coded
synch signal transmitted with the picture. This is somewhat compicated
electronics either way. It would be best if the producers of the material
were aware that it was intended for the Pulfrich effect so that they could
maintain constant relative horizontal motion, something that doesn't occur
in normal programming.
So, IF those ads are for something relating to Pulfrich, they're ALL WET!!!
