Sorry to all those in Seattle....Ellliot.....Dwight....Warren and
Caryl...etc....I just did not have the time to get the few more miles north
to see you all....but next year is Bellvue so we'll have plenty of time then.
I did speak to Phyllis Maslin the other day...and it sound like things are
already heating up for next year.
PORTLAND, OREGON CASCADE STEREO CLUB
Last I emailed the list....I had Shab Levy spellchecking for me....owe
whellll....now heeees gawne and eye dont have his help aneeemore!
Shab really put together a fantasic meeting for everyone.... which was held
at Levy Design....in the boardroom. Shabs work in the museum exhibit market
is so impressive....as I have done museum installations myself......but his
work with technology and design is world class meticulous..
Fourteen people, not including myself attended, and it was great to meet more
faces behind the email addresses....and see some familiar faces I saw at NSA
as well.....such as the ever so wonderful John and Sylvia Dennis. I am sure
John has his hands full cranking out the NSA Stereo World Issue....I bet it
will be great. Jean Polot, from Will Vinton's Animation Studio did show up
after all, as Shab and I ran in to him earlier that afternoon, as we noticed
a View-Master camera around his neck... having never met before....and Jean
did not know Cascade Stereo exhisted, what a coincidence!.....also present
were Les Konrad....Cascade Club President Ron Kreseil (thanks for the mention
of me in your newsletter Ron)....Neil Steller, Jerry Weigel, Kem Sypher,
Mickey Turner, Diane Rulien, Ivy Feibelman, Michael Kersnbrock, Peter
Abrahams....and last be never ever least....Shab Levy. Thanks to all of you
for a great time....hope I showed you some good 3-D stuff.
The next day I hit the road southwest...back to the Orgeon coast....and
within two days wound up in Eureka California....and as I had my RBT mail
list with me....I dialed up Dick LaForge....who invited me over for breakfast
and some 3-D viewing of his work in cave exploration....WOW!!! .....if you
are ever in Eureka....look up Dick......his work is fantastic....and he goes
to lengths, depths and difficulties that very few would..to get cave
3-D's......as he is a very serious spelunker (sp? cave explorers)....along
with the likes of Guy Ventrilloauc (sp) who's 3-D cave work I saw at NSA San
Diego in 93......at any rate....I persuaded Dick to let us show his cave
images at one of our future Stereo New England Meetings....so stay tuned.
By the way......after about 50 antique shops and junk stores scoured
throughout Norhtern Calif. and Oregon.....I saw many old card viewers and
stereo cards (mostly junky ones).....scattered View-Master (scored some good
deals on that)....one Stereo Realist Manula hardcover which I got for 20.00
in mint shape (yay!).....but I only saw one beat up old Kodak stereo
camera....that was it! Its tough to get up here....I did get lots of great
old early pocket transistor radios however......so if anyone has any
colorful, fancy, early (1954-63....thats it) let me know because soon it will
be macro stereo time, as I am mounting up some energy to do a close up show
on the fancy colorful early transistor radios of the 1950's.
I'll be back in Boston over Labor Day.... between NSA and all this....it has
been a long and great journey....and my processing lab eagerly awaits my
undeveloped Velva and Kodachrome .....Regar-d-d-d-s Jon Golden RBT USA
