Actually, the whole thing is in anaglyph; it's a testament to the poor quality
of the system that you can't even tell! In the original polaroid, it looks
better, although it's still no Star Wars. As we've discussed here before,
anaglyph is a poor substitute for polaroid 3D, albeit a necessary one in many
cases, and on NTSC television it is all but worthless. I had a long talk with
producer/special effects guy Jack Rabin once about the film and his use of flat
painted backdrops and flat stock shots from other films. His perfectly logical
attitude was, hey when you're making a film with the change you found in the
sofa, you do whatever you need to.
