John Barnier asks about old stereophotography methods.
I don't know much about it but I do know that twin-lensed cameras came
almost as early as single-lensed cameras so although your subject may have
taken stereo by shifting the camera, he could have used a twin-lensed
camera if he'd purchased one. I don't know how the shutters were synched
on twin-lensed cameras but if they were somehow cruder than today's, that
could explain the movement between left and right exposures. I'm
interested in your comments on visiting card cameras. I imagine they were
along the lines of today's twin-lensed passport cameras which have lenses
too close together for normal stereobase pairs. But six lenses in one
camera! Wow! Tell me more.
