say me where can I buy one ?, also, is posible to paint a white one ?
( Because I can't find one silver )."
I have been researching this one for a while.
If you want a silver lenticular screen where you will have less drop off of
the light intensity at the edges, the widest I have been able to find is 6
feet. This is from the DaLite Company in Warsaw, IN, USA. DaLite at one
time made rolls of silver lenticular material with the proper orientation so
they could make a screen as wide as the roll is long. They had problems in
manufacturing material with this orientation, so they quit and sold the
equipment.
Tony Shapps of the WideScreen center can quote you a price for a large
single piece silver screen. He has already mentioned this in a recent
posting. I think the material is Spectra 2000.
I am currently waiting for information to arrive from Stuart Screen
(310)326-1422. The material they make is called Silver 400. They can make
a screen up to 40x90 feet!
Raven Screen Corporation, 112 Spring Street, Monroe, NY 10950,
(914)782-1844, has made a 9x20 foot screen for some stereo friends of mine.
The screen was made from material which is 4 feet wide before the material
is seamed. I think the original material is made in the state of Maryland.
I do not know what they call this material. I have received a sample with a
seam and projected on it from a distance. I did not notice the seam from a
distance. This may be the least expensive way to get a large silver screen,
but it still is not cheap! By the way, when the lenticular screen material
was available with the proper orientaion, Bill Duggan, the projectionist for
the NSA had the 7x21 foot screen and frame made by Raven Screen Corporation.
This is screen was paid for and is owned by the NSA, and used only at the
NSA convention. Bill Duggan would be happy to tell you more about the
screen! (Bill is famous for telling everyone in the projection theater
about the screen.)
I have talked with Draper Screen in Indiana (317)987-7999. They offer the 6
foot lenticular material, probably from DaLite. They also offer a flat
silver screen that they estimated to be in rolls 50 to 54 inches wide. This
material presumably would be seamed for a large screen.
I have heard of Harkness Screens in England but I have not tried to contact
them. The person who told me about them does not know if they are still in
business.
Diffferent screen materials will have different properties such a ghosting
with stereo projection. I have been told by Robert Brackett that this has
been studied in the past by Fewerda. If anyone has information about the
different materials, I would like to hear about it.
If anyone has more information to add to this, I would be interested to hear
from you. If anyone knows of some of the older DaLite material that someone
may have tucked away in a warehouse, let me know. I have already talked to
Bill Duggan about this, and he cannot help me.
