I'm following you regarding theatrical release prints, (though very few 
houses use carbon arc anymore)...

But you're loosing me with regard to chromes. Are you saying that 
there's different soup and/or development that the user can specify for 
differing color temp projection? Jeez, I've seen hundreds of lab 
services lists over the years, and I've never seen anything approaching 
that sort of option on any of them... 

If so, then why do light table makers and their lamp suppliers strive to 
hit color temps of 5500 and CRIs as close to 100 as possible?
