Bob Howard seems to believe that the article on reconstructing an out of
focus image by using it create a hologram intermediate and then
photographing that was a April 1st spoof. He may be right but I seem to
remember the article as being in a text book rather than a photographic
journal so that the date would have no significance. Holograms themselves
are certainly recorded out of focus compared to conventional photographs as
the light reflected from the object is allowed to simply fall on the plate
along with a reference beam which is not reflected of the object . I canot
go into to much detail here as acording to the instuctions we recieve on
subscription to this group holography seems to be considered of topic
apart from brief mentions. (Although to me it would seem to be more on
topic than some things we see) . Whether or not a out of focuss photograph
can be used to create a hologram is another matter ,I will try to track
down the original article although I dont think it is in anything I
actualy own.
