Sure, for some of us the fun _is_ the technical part. Different strokes
for different folks.
I greatly admire those who do art and can also get it right technically
in order to show off their work properly. An artist should know how to
use his tools. If he doesn't pay his dues and learn the brush strokes
if he's a painter, or what chisel to use where if he's a sculptor, he will
have a much tougher time expressing himself. Even finger painting requires
a little technical knowledge: how much paint do you add to the water?
However, I do very much like the idea of the tools being easy to use or
"transparent" to the artist insofar as that is possible.
