I agree that stereo-pairs are un-natural.

The "problem" with a  stereo-pair image is that it eliminates the
natural eye gymnastics.  The eyes *don't* have to refocus as it
looks around.  The un-naturalness of a "well done" stereo pair is that
it's "better" than true-life.  It's not blurry enough. :-)
