Re: Art
I can't let this pass:
Cliff Davis writes (once I've cleaned up the spelling): <<If I were to point
a 3D camera anywhere with my eyes closed and take a photo, wouldn't this be
an intention to get a desired effect? If I were to cover the lenses and take
a picture of darkness, this would be my intention. It would be my art.>>
Comment: Perhaps, but it would be crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Learn the difference!!!
Further comment: I heard this sort of "reasoning" in the '60s, when so-called
"artists" were passing off every sort of trash imaginable as "art," and
demanding that it be accorded the same respect as carefully-crafted
sculpture, painting, photos, etc.. I'll be the first to admit that there's a
wide range of stuff that, as "art," has the capability of moving something
within the human mind/spirit/whatever, but there is a point at which that
stops happening, and to attempt to drag that which is beyond that point into
the definition of "art" is to cheapen both art and those capable of creating
art.
