Cutters, of course, are like the proverbial hens teeth. I was in this
position
(VM camera - no cutter) for several years myself so I know the feeling.
For the truly desperate though, it ought to be possible to modify a
couple
of VM viewers to allow pull-through viewing of the uncut roll (sort of
like
a film strip). I presume you'd ned two such viewers to accomodate both
image strips.
The frustrating thing is that the cutter is basically quite a simple
device
(about the same complexity as a paper punch) and if there was a true
devotee
with excellent access to a metal shop, it shouldn't be hard to produce a
workable substitute. The illuminated base for example could be omitted
(use
it on a light box or build-your-own-base). At a pinch, the indexing
mechanism
could be let go too (in the interests of KISS) and the film pulled
through by
hand and aligned byeye .... which *really* makes it no more than a paper
punch.
