How to make anaglyph prints...

Several of you have written to me personally about how I create an
anaglyph print. It is fairly straightforward actually. It only requires
a small amount of money and time, but a good computer helps... =) Here
are the general steps:
1. Take a stereo pair of images.
2. Have them transferred to a Photo-CD for optimal image resolution.
3. Using a program like Photopaint, Picture Publisher, Photoshop,
etc... read in the highest resolution version of each image.
(18 MB each)
4. Convert the images to Grayscale.
5. Convert them to RGB.
6. Split the RGB parts, and replace the right R with the left R.
7. Re-combine the RGB part of the left.
8. Do not crop the image to make it look nice. (Don't crop overhang
where one image didn't overlay the other.)
9. Save the image in .PCD (Photo-CD) format or .TIF format. (18 MB
either way)
10 Deliver the saved image to the processor to have a new negative
burned in.
11. Print copies of your new Anaglyph from the negative. (I used the
machine that let me do my own cropping in the store.)
(Note: The computer processing part of this on my machine takes about 2
to 3 hours. That is on a P133 with 64 MB Ram running WIN95. When I was
doing this on my old 486DX100 with 16 MB it took 12 to 15 hours. File
transfer can de done with either ZIP or SYQUEST disks. Most places have
both.)
