->You don't have many choices... To my knowledge, there is not such
->thing as a commercial 2x2 viewer with achromatic lenses and internal
->illumination, equivalent to a Realist, Kodaslide, Revere, etc.

->David Burder has modified a Sterolist to take 2x2 mounts. The example

George - are you sure it was David Burder's Stereolist? I converted a
Sterolist for Bernard Makinson, so that it can be adjusted for both
standard Realist (one piece) mounts or twin 2 x 2 mounts. As the
Sterolist was designed at a time when the European 41 x 107 mm plate
size was still in use, the viewer (as standard) will take two 2 x 2
mounts with a 12mm spacer - to give a 62mm mount separation.
The reflector is almost wide enough to allow the apertures to be
enlarged to 32mm.
A slot in the base allows the 2 x 2 slides to drop about 5mm further
than the original Realist mount position. A slide brings in the spacer
and opens the slot in one position, and removes the spacer and stops the
Realist mount from droping through the slot.
The Sterolist viewer is an excellent viewer, but it has a weakness in
the design of the housing that the lens mount slides in. They often
crack at the corners. Bernard's viewer has a distinctive polished brass
strengthening collar covering the original plastic part.
I believe David did make a fixed Sterolist 2 x 2 conversion - after he
had used Bernard's viewer!
Oh and I have done a similar conversion on a Photax viewer.
Best Wishes
