Re: Negating Viewmaster

>Maybe they (VM) were children's toys all along.

Hmmm, not according to Charles Piper:

"Following the development of Kodachrome in the 1930-1935 time period, the
Sawyer people of Portland Oregon put full color stereo within the reach of
the public with View-Master. The V-M took the place of the old cardboard
stereo views made from large format negatives, and [pay attention Dan!] in
some ways was superior, even though it has sometimes been regarded as toy."
(from Installment #60-2)

and,

"If you like stereo without tears... VM is your medium. While VM will
never take the place of ANSI format stereo (Realist, etc.), [pay attention
Dan!] it does have a greater picture content (in lines resolution) than
home movies or American television. And it is genuine 3-D. Objects have
the solidity of the real world." (from Installment #78)

Dr. T says that nothing beats the magic of a personal VM reel. It does not
have the power and possibilites of regular 35 mm 3D, but it is refreshing
and exciting.

George Themelis who hasn't found the time yet to shoot VM!
