Just a bit of gloating:
I bought the Kodak viewer I mentioned eariler over lunch today. I walked in
to take a look at it, found out there was a 20% off sale going on, picked
in up, slide $72 on the counter and headed off to pour over in more
detail...
Clean and in the original box, with the original (though unpriced) price
tag. and a single double-sided sheet in instructions. There's a functioning
S-6 bulb in the thing, and a single slide tucked into it showing a New
Orleans street scene with a date of 4/1959 on it. Dimmer works, lamp works,
no cracks, interocular functions fine. The focus knob isn't moving the
metal slide carriage like it looks like it's supposed to, but the thing is
focused correctly as it sits, and feels like it's spring-held into place.
(It'll move, but resists the idea.) The rubber on the power cord is
cracking a bit, but not dangerously so. The box even has two compartments
big enough to hold about 40 slide, which about covers the ones I had along
of the company picnic, so even thouse have a home now.
I'm pretty happy.
