My name is Peter C., and I own a Realist camera (chorus: "Hi Peter!")
About six weeks ago, I was exactly in the situation you find yourself.
Happyily puttering with the slides, and convinced that you'll need nothing
more. I got some news for you. See, that single cheap viewer will become
ordering them by the half-dozen, so you can hand them out of friends when
you give them the pictures you've so proudly taken of their houses, cars,
kids, and dogs. You'll buy or build the light table, because it's easier
and more fun than sorting on a sheet of typing paper, and sanpping up an
illuminated viewer because the variable light intensity is really nice for
showing off those slides with the widely varying characteristics to the
best effect. And thinking... "$200 for a silver screen isn't a whole lot of
money, if I ever run across a projecter at an estate sale or something."
I'm already about half way down that path. I've given away slides and cheap
$3 viewers to friends, I've gotten the illuminated viewer, and Dr. T's
about convinced me that I want his book and overhaul kit. And I've drawn up
plans for the light table, which is gonna be the winter project.
So, you're happy now, but it won't be the same forever...
