Reel 3-D (I assume you have their catalog?) has cheap non-illuminated
new viewers and some basic new illuminated viewers. The rest are in the
used market. Prices for good viewers have been steadily going up. Look
for names like Realist, Kodaslide, Revere/Wollensak, etc. A couple of
3D dealers in this list (Dalia, Harry Poster) could help you with this.
Dalia's catalog is nicely illustrated and her mini-magazine carries
articles on viewers on a regular basis.
Let me clarify about the work that I do with viewers (Dr. T'ized). I
clean the viewer, lubricate/adjust moving parts, fix cracks, repaint lamp
compartment, replace reflector, etc. You get back your viewer looking and
working better, especially in terms of illumination (bright & uniform
light). I also open the apertures of selected viewers for 7/8p viewing.
I do not mess up with lenses, other than cleaning them. If the original
lenses have problems, they will still have those problems and they might be
more noticeable under bright light. I have Revere/Wollensak for lens'
replacement or experimentation but they cost extra. I also have light
bulbs and a few more supplies for viewers. A catalog is available for free
(US only).
