As a matter of fact, I purchased one of these new in the store in 1986
for $150. It only uses metal audio cassettes, and can record about 20
minutes of video on each side of a 60 minute tape. It uses 8 AA
batteries, and can be plugged in to any regular socket with an adaptor.
I used mine quite extensively for art projects in college as the other
cameras of the day were well beyond my reach. I still enjoy my one VHS
master, edited copy of this stuff. Although a bit pixilated, the video
is priceless to me.
I found a second one of these last year at a thrift store in Denver for
$6. Bought it instantly! I now have the two sitting in my closet
waiting for me to get around to trying some 3D stuff with them. Even if
I never get around to that, they will still be great toys for my kids
someday! =)
