I don't hear the click. It just keeps advancing.

I thought it was important, based on the instructions in the manual, that 
I had to clear the white dot, which required cutting a long leader on the 
film. Are you saying this is unnecessary? So when I switch to "A" and 
advance I will always hear a "click?"  Fantastic! (Buy me a pizza if it 
isn't true..)
