  Fearless Leader adjures:
>What we have is a diagram with no known=20

>Give us the model behind the diagram!

  The History:The math model was originally based on the quantified=20
knowns in a standard dual lens system. It predicted a Z-axis resolution=20
from the idea that the centroids in a single lens mimic a dual lens=20
arrangement, it used the distance between these centroids for a baseline.=
=20

The real world results from this thinking were found to be way off. Perha=
ps=20
by an order of magnitude.
This then was clearly not a "dual lens" system shoe-horned into a single=20
piece of glass.

The Paradigm Leap:
Any cone of light coming from the lens aperture reverses at its "image=20
point". Think of the aperture filters as simply encoding this effect. As =
such,=20
they differentiate foreground from background images.=20

The Current Model:
The question now becomes "How far must an object be displaced before=20
this changeover is resolveable at an image plane?".=20
I start with =91Rayleigh's Criterion' for determining the resolution of a=
 wave=20
based system. I then determine when the encoded minums are displaced=20
enough at the image plane to be resolveable points along the Z-axis.

?!?!?
