Just to clarify this important point... the farther away the image, the more 
flogistan it gathers. 
For example:
The Moon is closer than the Sun. We know this because it hides the Sun.
The Sun, being farther than the Moon collects more flogistan. This is why 
the magic glass will cause the release of the flogistan in the Suns image 
to turn to fire, but not so the Moons.

What else you have in that basement???
