Thanks Harry for the reply... When I asked about returning a Realist for
a light leak I was thinking of myself as a seller, not a buyer!

If the information is based on public or private contributions, then sure I
will.  If the information is based on personal research which cost money and
time, then I'll think about it.  Would you give out free copies of your (now
collectible) booklet on stereo equipment? (I'll pay postage!)

This is a more general question.  I believe in free exchange of information
as in photo-3d and I try to post informative postings from time to time...
But I also think that anyone who puts the effort to collect information and
research a subject, should be rewarded or at least given the opportunity to
break even by selling this information.

I write books on viewers and sell them to cover my expenses and possibly
make a small profit.  I could post the information and let people access it
for free.  I don't want to do that because then I will not be motivated
to support and improve this information.

Financial reward a good motive to stick around and keep up your good work.
If Dalia's catalog was distributed for free, then Dalia would not be around
to do it.  Tim Klein did a great job putting together the famous "Products
and Services" list.  Where is he now?  If he was charging for the
distribution of this information maybe he would be around to revise it?

Hats off to Bob Wier and the unpaid photo-3d moderators for a job well
done!  Hope you guys don't get tired ever!

I guess it is either money of fame... Tim was working for the fame...
Others are working for the money and fame ;)

This goes beyond your question but I saw it as a starting point to get this
